We are excited to meet you! To schedule a tour, please call our Admission team at (678) 540-7229 or email at admission@thewalkerschool.org.

The Walker School New Avenues Dyslexia Program serves children with dyslexia in grades 1-5 who have above-average academic aptitude and a strong desire to fulfill their abundant potential. Orton-Gillingham-certified teachers address each child's unique challenges and build upon their individual strengths as they learn in our dedicated classroom spaces. This targeted instruction allows students to close the gap between their cognitive potential and their academic achievement.

With dedicated support at home and at school, students in New Avenues will learn, explore and grow within Walker’s college-preparatory environment.

STEP 1

Ravenna Account

Relationships are key to the Walker experience, and ours begins when you reach out to us. Please create an account in our on-line application management portal, Ravenna. Once you have an account, you will find information about our application process. Complete the New Avenues application and submit the $85 non-refundable application fee.

STEP 2

Current School Transcript

Please print and sign the transcript release form found in your Ravenna account and submit it to your child's current school so that they are authorized to send us your child's transcript.

STEP 3

Parent Statement

In your Ravenna account, complete the New Avenues Parent Statement.

STEP 4

Teacher Evaluation

In your Ravenna account, delegate the Teacher Evaluation form to your child’s current teacher. You may delegate this form multiple times if you would like to send additional teacher evaluation forms to tutors, support teachers, etc.

STEP 5

Current Psychoeducational Evaluation Report

Please provide our admission team with a copy of your child's current (within the last three years) psychoeducational evaluation report. This report should include the WISC-V or the WIPPSI.

STEP 6

Shadow Visit and Testing

Once our Admission team has received your child’s application, transcript, Parent Statement form, Teacher Evaluation form and current psychoeducational evaluation report, we will contact you to schedule a testing and shadow visit for your child.

STEP 7

Enrollment Decisions

You will receive feedback from Walker’s admission committee shortly after your child’s visit. Per AAAIS admission protocol, admission decisions for New Avenues applications are communicated on a rolling basis.
